While putting digital items, such as articles or ebooks, on course reserve is not entirely necessary since students can always access those directly through the library catalog, instructors can use the Leganto course materials platform to add items like these to course materials lists. Creating a course materials lists makes it easy for students to discover and access all of the readings that will be required for the course in one place, both in Canvas and on the library website.

Step 1: Create or edit a course materials list in Leganto.

Step 2: Add item(s) to your course list

  • Once in your course list, click the blue Add button to add new items. Use the "Search the library" option to search for the book you want to add to course reserve. Locate the copy you are looking for (add author information or filter to narrow down your results).

  • Click the blue plus to add to list and then the blue Add button.
  • Articles and e-books will be added to the list complete with links and descriptive metadata with no further processing required by the library.

Step 3: Share the list with your students

  • Enabling access to the course materials list in Canvas helps students easily find the complete list of readings you have compiled for their course and ensures that students will have access to any copyright-limited reserve items like PDF files you might have added in addition to library owned materials.
