UBorrow is a service where you can requests books from other libraries within the Florida university and college system. Books requested through UBorrow tend to come faster than those requested through InterLibrary Loan and the loan periods are more generous. UBorrow is only for print books, not articles, ebooks, other other media formats.
To use UBorrow:
If FGCU doesn’t have the book you want, you can use the Statewide Catalog to look through libraries statewide . You can also search the local FGCU Library Catalog for what you are looking for and find the link that says “Show items that you can request statewide” next to the UBorrow symbol . That will also get you into the Statewide Catalog.
Once you are in the Statewide Catalog, you can look through the results, which are items owned by all of the Florida university and college libraries. Items with a UBorrow symbol are eligible to be requested.
To see if an item is available for check out, select "Show All Locations" and look to see if there are copies whose status is "Available."
If the title you want is available, click the "UBorrow" button under that item and sign in to your account.
If a title is unavailable, you will be taken to the ILLiad system where you can request the book through Interlibrary Loan.
Verify your selections on the next screen and place request.
Active requests can be viewed through your Library Account, and once an item arrives, you will receive an email notification
